Mosaic of the terminator (15/07)

Hi all.

Tried to do some hi-res lunar imaging on Friday night, but the seeing was very ordinary so I attempted a mosaic at newt prime focus (1250mm FL).

Unfortunately, as usual, I missed some bits in my mosaic, and also silly me changed exposure settings while capturing the bright areas, so it was too difficult to get them to match.

I was able to recover some sort of image from the nights efforts though, here's a mosaic of the terminator where the settings were equal.

The mosaic is made up of 8 images, with each image being a single frame captured from the ToUcam. The result after stacking was worse than the best single frames, because the seeing was so bad.

It's worth checking out the full or medium size, remember to click the "expand" icon if your browser resizes it automatically.

Full size (500k)

Medium size (210k)

And here's the preview version (attached):

Hi Mike

That is a very nice mosaic. I looked at the full size version and you have managed to grab a lot of data. The texture, shadings and surface colour variations are very well presented. Well done.

Cheers

Dennis
