Arrow Moon, Venus and Mercury conjunction

Hi all

This was taken last Thursday morning, when there was a beautiful conjunction between the waning crescent Moon, Venus and Mercury.

Unfortunately clouds ruined most of my chances to get a "poster shot", but I was able to snap a few images in-between the grey matter.

Taken out at Terrigal Beach, on the Central Coast of NSW.

Used the Canon 350D on a fixed tripod, with the 75-300mm lens for the close-up, and the 17-70 Sigma for the wide views.

Thanks for looking.

Mike,

Absolutely awsome shots. What were the time and exposure settings for the wide angle...

Cheers

Graham

Thanks Mike, I like those photos. Nice of the ship to be in position! And the cloud added to the first photo rather than detracted.

A very nice portfolio Mike, each one showing quite a different and enchanting view of this conjunction. I particularly like the 1st one due to the beautiful and dramatic setting, as well as the 3rd one with the ghostly earth shine adding an attractive 3-D effect to the scene.

Top job!

Cheers

Dennis

Many thanks for your comments.

The clouds are ok, but I would've preferred lighter, more sparse clouds that turned pinkish in the sunrise, rather than the drab grey ones that filled my scene.

It's not exactly what I had in my minds eye, but i'm fairly pleased to have captured anything. Of course it was the only morning last week that was cloudy

Graeme, it was a 10s exposure @ ISO100, 33mm f/4.0.

wow a rare under non-blobing 5% illuminated (4%) moon with bright planets in interesting tight 3-degree-grouping conjunction, nice one Mike, they dont come along often!
pity you didnt get the occultation of neptune by moon not long after that! awesome! i hope to get out there myself again one day!

All are great Mike, I especially like the second one and the green glow off the ship in the first one.

Excellent, Mike! All great shots but I really like the conjunction with the ship in the second one!
