ok I'm ready for clouds again!
I never thought I'd say it, but a day or two of clouds before the new moon weekend would be welcome right now..
I'm drowning in data from 3 clear nights in a row! And i'm sleep deprived too!
These clear nights are so rare that we have to advantage of them, but now I've got so much data to process it's going to take me weeks to get through it all.
The seeing has been very steady too, so I've got DSO data and Jupiter data still waiting to process, and the seeing is great this morning too so after an all nighter with DSO imaging i'm now capturing Jupiter!
As long as it's clear on the weekend i'm ok for it to be cloudy the rest of the week

Hii Mike & All,
Yep these last two nights have been rather nice in the context of the last few months. I spent both under the sky at Sydney Obs, with a public group on Sunday the seeing was good and the transparency was very good. When I got home that night to Engadine, I could see mag 5.4 stars with little diifficulty -- a good 0.2 to 0.3 mags fainter than usual.
Last night was the final night of a course I run there and we were out under the sky with several different 'scopes including my own 18". The transparency wasn't quite as good as Sunday but the seeing was a nice steady 7/10. Saturn was a sensation at 11pm when I packed up and all night, the star images at x247 had been very tight.
I think your raw data will be of high qualiity Mike!
Hope it holds for the weekend!
Best,
Les D

haha I don't wish clouds upon everyone, I'm happy for it to be just over my house for the next night or two.. I need some sleep and I'm literally out of disk space!
I need to process some of these images to clear some of the raw data ready for the next run.
The seeing has been very good the last few days.. transparency wasn't quite as good last night (as Les noted) but man it's such a pleasurable change from the last few months.

We had excellent skies up here last night and this morning... was a bit of a
treat after months of low flying nebula.

We've just had our night of cloud, last night. It'll clear now, for another week, including camp, he says hopefully!

Mike, you do realise that if you hope for it to be cloudy. This could potentially bring you and maybe others months of bad weather.
I should know, it has happen before!

You're a very sick puppy Mike!!! Maybe you should try stamp collecting?
Last night I thought I'd died and gone to heaven! I started a new imaging project under the clearest most stable sky I've seen in MONTHS. When I focussed, I was seeing imaged stars spread over a mere 2 arcsec - a first for me!!
Give me more, I want more!!!!!
Cheers, Marcus

I'm hoping for a clear weekend so I can sort out how to polar align. I reckon I'm about halfway there but it's definitely trickier than all the articles suggest.

I'll second that Ric. Looks pretty simple on paper, doing it is something else (as the actress said to the Bishop ). Think I've got the hang of it now, but it was a long struggle.

Think you got your wish Mike if the cloud here is extending down your way
I'm not complaining, an early night would do me good too.

ok it was cloudy last night, I got a full nights sleep. And I enjoyed that!
Now I'm ready for it to be clear again
Although I still have no disk space left! Hope to rectify that by finishing some processing today.
