Over 200mm overnight and more coming. Have attached a couple photos of the main drag, we have bad flooding with high tide this morning. Stuck at work now the roads are to dangerous to go home at the moment.

Wow, nice shots Mick! This weather pattern at the moment is causing the east coast some real suffering.

Hi Mick,

Thanks for the photos and you have given us one reason to stop complaining
about the weather in Sydney.

The deluge in Mackay is making the ABC headline news here.

If its is like that in the streets, I can only imagine what it must be like at the
streams and waterfalls in Finch Hatton!

Go safely.

Best Regards

Gary

I haven't bought anything I'm home now thank god I had to pick my daughter up from her work on my way home, she had to regretfully leave her car at work. We both went to work early she started at 4:30 and I started at 6:00 so we got caught on the other side of town just as the worst rain started. We have had 450mm of rain since 4am, there a lot of people flooded out and lots of damage.

Part of Keeleys road next to me washed away! A car konked out in the middle and was stuck there for most of yesterday. Front and back yards flooded but I have a high set house so I'm high and dry, well make that damp.

Yesterday I had 115mm in the rain gauge between 7-8am and 130mm from 8-9am! That doesn't count the rain from 3am to 7am. That must have been over 300mm but the gauge overflowed so I dunno for sure. Filled it up again last night too. More on the way!

I don't think it's stopped raining since I won that Naggler eyepiece a couple of years ago!

Mick and Kevin,

That's a lot of water.

I did note though that the local press (Sydney) was touting over 600mm in your neck of the woods. So, being a voyeur of kinds and running my own weather station, I ducked off to the official BOM MO site in Mackay; whilst still a huge amount of precipitation their site recorded a 'mere' 320mm.

Whatever: I do hope that none of your local daredevils cause someone else to risk their life in rescuing them.

Hi John,

Mere 320mm lol, East Mackay recorded 625mm 24 hr to 9:00 am Friday 2mm short of the daily record.
Rainfall will vary from weather stations, East Mackay was one of the suburbs worst hit by flooding.

And now the clean up starts.

Aye, Mick, I ken.

You are quite right. I get different readings from my two rain gauges which are a 'mere' 15 or 20 metres apart.

A 300mm difference is incredible. Don't get me wrong, please, I believe you.

My electronic type rain gauge is currently misbehaving and I'm 'mucking around' with it at the moment. Best get back to it before the heavens open.
