Cloudy Eclipse

Out of all the images I took yesterday, this one is my favourite.
Even though it's out of focus and stuff, I just like it.

Hi Jeanette

Yes – it looks very dramatic and primeval. I noticed that as the clouds scudded across the solar disc, it took on a much more dramatic look than an empty featureless disc.

I used Baader solar film which produces an almost white disc so I had to boost the yellow to make it look more realistic. I noticed you have a nice, warm orange – was that a glass filter?

Cheers

Dennis

Yes, as Dennis said, very dramatic and 'primeval'! For me, it's the best eclipse shot I've seen from this one (too many PacMan images, as Erick would say, LOL), and the touch out-of-focus helps make it so evocative, accidental or not! Well done!

Cheers -

It's a generic solar film that I bought at Astrofest a few years ago. Rob may remember who made it, we went halves in a sheet and he kept the wrapper.
I did run this image through Neat Image to get rid of some of the noise and do a little bit of sharpening.

A very nice image Jeanette!

Much better than a boring featureless yellow disk, I like it!
