Asteroid 2007 TU24 will miss us by about 530,000 km (334,000 miles) on January 29, 08:33 UT. NASA says it is about 150-600m Diameter and will be close to 10mag.

Thanks for posting that info, I have been checking this one out to see how we will go observing it from Australia.

Does anyone have a map showing its track from anywhere in Australia ?

I have looked in starry night, but of course it is not in the asteroid list there.

Its observed position will certainly vary with latitude due to its close proximity to earth.

Hi gaa_ian,
This is a plot from Guide 7 for the 28th Jan.
at dark on the 29th I believe it is below the horizon at dark.
The time is as indicated and the position in the square is at that time, from Coona. *note the low altitude*
Each tick along the path is 10min after that time.
It is marked at Mag 13.1, those with larger scopes should be able to see real-time motion.

I don't have a map for you, but according to CdC: on 29 Jan at 20:14, when the sun is 18° below the horizon in Nhulunbuy, asteroid 2007 TU24 will be some 12° above the horizon at 353° Az., mv 10.5.

Probably worth a try...
