october the 12th here was the last time (prettymuch) I recall any sustained fair weather for observing ..goes around .. comes around mate

actually last year was pretty freaky for clear nights up here ..and I remember getting a little ticked off that it was clear every night and I'd have to go out instead of doing semi important stuff ..like cooking a meal for the family and such

Gorgeous evening in Melbourne. I'm off comet Tuttle hunting from my back yard, after that Moon sets! Roll on summer! (But no fires or I really mean to say - NO SMOKE, please).

Hi Leon, don't worry about the Moon. A Ha filter will solve that problem.

Cheers

Maybe for you on the coast, but last year was one of the worst I've had for
good observing nights. But then again last year was a busy year dealing with
others matters.

Yep this weather will be the death of me. I havent had 1 good nights sleep in 2 weeks and am suffering chronic sleep deprivation. I live my days virtually stoned, droopy eyed and at risk of dropping dead at any moment. Even my purchase of an OIII filter yesterday had no effect. Even my eyepieces are suffering, being covered in dust all over from relentless use.

It's a cruel, cruel world...

Don't worry, it will come to a time when we get cloud for weeks on end and the rest of you will have clear skies

Don't forget that we suffer ice and snow in winter time. Now is our chance to make up for frozen scopes

I know wot you mean ken, I havent seen such a looooong run of awesome astro weather in years here! to top it off no smoke - so far - and the daytime skies are that nice deep blue nearly EVERYDAY! not that washed out milky white blue we were getting a lot of there, cept for the really hot days, incredible stuff, like the old days to me, all that humid stuff is going to its rightful locations for a change imagine if qld returned to its '80s weather!? seems to be tho

Yup that's for sure. That time is called June 1 - August 31. Nothing but unrelenting solid grey stratus.

I saw a 5% humidity reading on the evening news/weather not long ago
low humidity like that is equal to at least a few hundred metres extra elevation I have read before
