Tarantula Neb

Last night I attempted the Tarantula. I used to be able to star hop to this easily with the Dob a year ago but do you think I could find it with the EQ mount.

So when I finally had it on the laptop screen...you guessed it ...the clouds came rolling in. I was determined to give it a shot so between waves of clouds I managed to get 40x6 sec RG&B.

My alignment was lousy but for all the problems I managed to dig out this image. It's a bit noisy and quite blue - not sure if that is my dodgy image processing - comments welcomed...

Yes it is quite blue. Have you tried to adjust the individual colour levels?
Better than my first tarantula, keep at it.
Well done.

It is a little bit bright on the blue scale but all in all not a bad image for 6 sec exposures. Keep at it. The EQ is a bit diferent compared to a Dob.

I'd be very happy with that for a first attempt

A nice first attempt Peter, probably the exposures need to be increased to pull out the finer detail.

Cheers

Thanks for the comments. I haven't played wiht the colour levels yet.

With the unpredictable weather and the waves of clouds moving in mid session I've struggled to get long exposures as I have been keen to image something before it clouds over hence no drift aligning.

Can't wait to get back to Duckadang so I can leave the scope set up and aligned and finally get some long exposures out of the DSI.
