Eta Carinae, Keyhole NGC3372

60 minutes, (12 x 5 min subs), un-modded Canon 350D, Orion Skyglow Filter, Saxon 80ED, Autoguided with PHD/DBK31 on 10" LX200GPS, Processed in DeepSkyStacker (flats, darks and bias), Photoshop CS2 levels & curves.

This is as far south as I can image without running in to the roofline, and had to wait until 11:30pm before I could see it.

I'm now keen to work out how to put the WO 0.8 reducer in to the image train somehow and still get the backfocus required!

Suggestions for how to improve this image greatly appreciated.

Fantastic, Robert! This version is much better processed than your initial go on MMSAATU.

Why can't your WO 0.8 come to focus? I use mine with my ED80 with 350D without any problems.

Current image train is the 2" adapter that comes out of the LX200 microfocuser, screwed in to the Orion Skyglow filter "assembly/carrier thing", then to the meade t-adapter to the EOS t-ring then the cam. It results in having about 2mm focus left "in" on the 80ED. I just have to work out how to screw all the bits I have together and maintain the correct distances.

My understanding is that the correct distance from the WO 0.8x is about 55mm from the image plane. I've just got to have a look how they all go together (I'm thinking I can replace the meade t-adapter with the WO 0.8x, but haven't tried yet and don't know what will screw in to what)

What does your image train look like? Sorry to be lazy and not work it out myself!

Great image Turbo, very sharp and detailed. I always enjoy this fantastic area of the sky, there is just so much to see.
