Mars - Brisbane - 1351UT

The seeing was a little below last night...but not by much.

Thought I'd go for a little extra image scale tonight, but only in the processing - not at capture.

The seeing wouldn't take the 4x Powermate

This is a 150% B-Spline in Registax 4. You can actually see Mars in no longer at 100% phase when looking at the following limb (to the right) where Mare Sirenum is coming into view.

Nice again Matt, very smooth and detailed. I was going to capture Mars last night but clouds came just after I finished aligning

Nice image, Matt. I was observing Mars at the same time last night from Melbourne with a 4" refractor at 270x. I had accidently left a narrowband filter in, which really improved the contrast (!). You nicely capture what I saw at the eyepiece.

Another incredible image!

Those two features off the tip of Syrtis Major are so clear in this capture

The polar hood is so clear as well. I've seen a few images lately where it isn't apparent but I see it every time in the eyepiece.

Captured these in the gaps between the clouds, Davo

I got clouded out several times between 9pm and 1am.

But it was nice when it was clear.

Clear skies in Brisbane is going way too far. I'd describe it as periods of intermittent cloud with the occasional extended clearing. It's just so good to be able to see some stars again though

Very nice Matt, you're having a great run with Mars lately and looks like you captured those features below and to the right of Syrtis Major again, well done mate.

I'll be really happy once my filter wheel arrives. I'm hoping I'll get a chance to capture some RGB before Mars is gone.

Can't wait until Jupiter's back on the scene...4 times as big as Mars is at the moment, and with all those lovely fine details.
