I set up in the back yard Tuesday evening. The sky was clear but light polution was pretty bad. I could very faintly see the Sculptor Galaxy with my C8.
Anyway, My daughter pointed out a satelite moving overhead. I was surprised to see 3 satelites moving at almost the same speed, & very close to each other.
The first 2 were very close together. 1 only being a few arc secs or so behind the other & on the lower side of the 1st.
The 3rd satelite was about double the first distance behind the 2nd & a fair bit off to the lower side of the 1st.
The first 2 were travelling at identical speed with the third only slightly slower & ever so slowly trailing behind.
All 3 were following the same arc across the sky.
I've never seen satellites so close to eachother before.
I was doing some observing Tuesday night and saw them too. They were high in the eastern sky running south to north. The first two were really close, with the second following right behind the other. I quickly grabbed my 15X70s for a squizz and got both in the same field of view, I reckon at about 3 degrees apart.
There was also a fourth satellite that followed but it was a fair way behind, but still following the same line.
Hey!
I replied to a similar thread the other day when I saw three satellites together..well Tuesday night we saw three again also from Melbourne.
They sound the same as these ones, these three were traveling south to north with the third trailing somewhat behind the front two (a slightly different formation to the threesome we observed (last week, I think).
We picked these ones up naked eye and observing with 10x50s we could just place them all in the same FOV.
