Talking The Jupiter spider

Ok i'm not really sure what type of spider it is, but I thought it looked a bit like Jupiter with it's belts, zones and storms/spots

First pic is an almost full frame (slight crop around the edges) reduced to 800px long. The second pic is a crop of Jupiter

Taken with the 350D + Sigma 17-70mm @ 70mm.

It's a St Andrews Cross Spider Mike. The shape of the web gives it it's name. But I think the Jupiter Spider is more apt. I love the colours on yours.
I posted a yellow version of the Jupiter Spider here.

. . . and because it always sits with it's legs in the same 'Cross' pattern.

but more for the colours in the 'crossed' web. The web is Bluish/white, just like the colours of the St Andrews Flag of Scotland: Blue and White

The St Andrews Spider is a Wasps favourite meal. Yum Yum.
