Now Playing: Mars & M35

After Luna's close encounter with Mars, she leaves in her wake the
plentiful stars of open cluster M35.
As our moon wanes and retreats, the compact and distant stellar
conglomeration of 8.5 mag ngc2158 will also reveal itself 15'
southwest of the brighter foreground cluster.

The god of war and the pride of Gemini are currently separated by
2.5°, and remain within 5° of each other thru the first week of
January 2008.

Mars takes an even closer swing at M35 (< 2°) in mid-March '08 on
its proper motion course toward the stars of Cancer.
