RGB Mars from Dec 26th with Skynyx and 12.5"

Well despite not having had a filter wheel, I took some test shots with my Astronomics RGB filter set and manually threading all the filters on and off just to see what the Skynyx could deliver. All in all took about 5 mins to record 3 files and do 2 filter changes (one filter was set in the camera to start off with).

Despite the fact that there is some camera rotation as I had to take the camera out of the focuser, change the filter and put it back in again) I am quite happy with the result to be honest and it's way more than what I expected from an object at only 25 degrees high.
All part of the process of learning to use new gear I guess.

Enjoy and comments welcome.

Looks good, John.

What software did you use to recombine the RGB files (AstraImage?) and how did you makes sure you rotated them the right amount for them to line up?

In PS7, I've been setting the blending mode to Difference to check alignment between layers.

Good start, John! Definitely shows some promise. Man how frustrating manually changing filters

Hi Matt, I just used Astra Image and simply tried to put the camera in and out in the same orientation. Pot luck I guess and that's why there is some orientation differences if you look carefully (especially the blue channel). Thanks for the heads up on PS7
