New equipment inbound

After much anticipation, I can finally announce with fair warning that the CGE and C9.25 arrive on Monday. Gentlemen (and ladies), grab your umbrellas!

Rain delay(ed)

I have some not nice things to say about UPS right about now. I paid the customs clearance fee at noon on Friday, at which time UPS assured me it would make a Monday delivery. I hang around at home all day today eagerly awaiting the arrival, get impatient, check the UPS tracking site and see that it sat in Sydney all weekend, only to depart there at 5am this morning with a rescheduled delivery date of the 21st.

Arg! Oh well, I'll live (barely.)

That is so annoying.

I can sympathise with your frustration.

Yep, that happens all the time. The Australian "express delivery" companies don't work on the weekends unless you PAY MORE.
Whenever I get stuff sent from OS I make sure it leaves over there on Thurs or Fri of the given week. Then it travels over the weekend & usually arrives at my place on the following Tues.

If it leaves there on a Monday, then it will usually arrive in Sydney (all internation couriers arrive in Syd first & then dispatched to the relevant city) on Friday & sit in Syd until the following Mon & you don'yt get it until Tues or Wed.
So Thurs to Tues, Or Mon to Tues.

Well, after my grumbling, Mr. UPS man came through. I guess the counterweight got left behind in Sydney and they were going to delay it all until it arrived, but it made it in half an hour later.

I'm having fun now

Excellent Eric. Fabulous setup Congratulations.

Now I won't get all the blame for the continuing weather when my observatory sheds turn up tomorrow

And it looks like another low that battered Mackay is heading down here, thanks dude, its payback for me I suppose. I got my new 12" 200R in Mid December and have only been able to have it out 5-6 times since then. It will probally clear in a month then when my Mallincam comes in from Canada in a few weeks we will have rain to mid year. God I hope I am wrong. Sorry everyone .

Matt

So its your fault matt (coldspace). I thought it was either me ordering the observatory or a couple of friends of mine getting and EQ6, Orion ED80, Zenithstar 66, 400D and quite a few other bits and pieces and bells and whistles back in October. They were feeling quite guilty for the weather hanging around for so long, they will be please to know it wasn't all their fault

It must be the combination of everyone getting gear. The government water commission should be sending us all cheques for saving them billions on building dams, pipelines and de-sal plants. 1 billion divided up between 3500 members. Gee look out you Astro-shops.

Matt.

I don't think we need to go that far Matt. There aren't 3500 members in SE Qld

Yeah sorry, we don't need to share the money south of the border. Might be able to afford to buy one of the overseas manufacturers with all this money we will be getting and the mexicans will be spewing.

Matt.
