IIS Xmas Drinks in Sydney?
We've had a couple of get-togethers in the past, for birthday draws etc..
Perhaps we should get together for some XMAS drinks sometime in the next couple of weeks?
Who's keen?
We can meet at a bar in the city somewhere, sometime after 5pm or so. I'm open for suggestions as to where, because I know nothing in the city.
The way the weather looks to be for the next few weeks, we won't be meeting under the stars so this is the next best thing
Suggestions for date and venue?
Maybe Tuesday 18th or Wednesday 19th? I'm not available Thursday 20th.

This is a great idea.
Unfortunately, I am unable to attend the Sydney event...but it would be great if Brisbane/SE Queensland IIS folk held a similar event. Perhaps even the same afternoon/evening. Sort of like a drink-a-thon
Cheers!

I'm keen on this. Tuesday or Wednesday is OK for me at this stage also.
A good possibility is the Strawberry Hills Hotel - very close to Central Station and there is some street parking and commercial parking stations not too far away.
I used to enjoy the jazz at the SHH some years ago until the dreaded poker machines displaced it The pokies have gone now and I hear the Hotel has been enlarged and still puts on some good music.
Places to avoid due to high prices, transport and parking include the Rocks, Darling Harbour, Circular Quay
I haven't been to the SHH for a few years, but I can go and check it out if directed to do so by our Great and Glorious Leader.

Sounds good Mike, a get-together for drinks and a chat will be a nice change from the usual
observing night "guess who I am" in the darkness.....

Hi,
I thinks drinks (and telescope chat) would be a great idea, there are heaps of bars in town. The CBD on King and Sussex, near Wynyard is good.

Tuesday night is best for me, 18th.
I'd prefer to meet at the Wynyard station end of George St, at any bars around there.

OK guys, how 'bout we meet tomorrow after 5pm down in the city somewhere?
Weather looks like it can't hold water so a get-together would be great.
Unless there's a better venue someone can recommend, one place we can meet is at the Metropolitan Hotel on George st, just above maccas, we've had an IIS birthday comp draw there, why not go back for Chrisie drinks?
