Afocal Adventure - Mars

These are my first baby steps into the world of astro imaging.

Taken through the 10" dob with a GSO 32mm camera projection eye piece and GSO 3x barlow in the wee hours of Monday morning.

Trying to acheive focus with the image dancing around the D200s viewer every time I even thought about touching the focuser, was quite a test of patience.

Wasn't really expecting much so, I can't say I'm disapointed.
Was fun though and time dissappeared quickly.

Details-Single shot. 1/250sec iso1250 with camera's onboard high iso filter.
Slight highlighting in ACDSee Pro.
Full frame and cropped

Cheers
Deeno

Nice work, Deeno.

It's not easy imaging afocally. I remember it only too well

Those are nice and sharp little globes.

Keep at it, mate

Nice.
I'd like to see what you could achieve if you stacked a few of those images.

Been through a few posts on the subject and will have to try and work out how to.

Thanks for the encouragement. Might take my poor grey matter a while to learn how to do this.

Cheers

Well done Deeno, you got some fine detail there. Stacking might produce better results.

Thanks Jeanette for PMing some directions on Registax. I would have no idea where to even start. Very grateful.
So I've managed to stack five images of Mars from that session (after my poor ol' computer had a couple of heart attacks)

Cheers

No problems Deeno. You'll do fine, it just takes practice.

Awesome shots!

I would be thrilled if my first attempt at Mars came out that well.
