Mars early this morning

After 3 weeks of clouds, last night it cleared allowing me to view the saturn/venus/mercury conjunction. Very pretty sight & it was my first view of mercury ever!

I decided to stay up & get a glimpse of mars. As usual, it was a pretty dissapointing sight, especially threw the little 4.5" reflector. Just a little orange blob. Tonight maybe good to get the 6" refractor out & have another go at mars.

John you stayed up for mars and didnt go for your '9 planets in one night' badge !! (I have three of those)
I would remind everyone this is a unique oppurtunity to do so! and you dont have to stay up till dawn to do it either, which normally is the usual way of it!! especially those people with goto's who just have to press buttons to find Pluto - whirr click buzz - dont forget to look down at your feet for planet number 9. (i guess these days its 'imaging 9 panets in one night' badges)

I wouldn't know where to start looking for the rest of the planets Kearn...Strictly a "what's that? ok, lets look at it" kind of astronomer....cant be bothered looking fer things on charts! Maybe when I get my new APO {6" of course} on a 'wirrr-buzzz-clik'-mount! {In my DREAMS}
