A rather rough 4x5 min of Eta Carina.
lt was early with the object only 20 degrees above the horizon and a fairly stiff breeze which made the hand guiding a bit tricky.
4x5 @ iso 800 with 400D imaged through ED100 @f/5.6
hand guided with LX200 @ f/10.

Nice data - good round stars, good nebulosity. Hand guiding - ahh, that's fun to do now and then

I couldn't help but play with the levels a little, and then tried an un-sharp mask on it. Might be better or worse depending on monitor settings. On my screen your background is quite bright, so I took that down and made it a more neutral colour. Hope you don't mind, but it's fun to play with images Because the unsharp mask brought out some noise along the bottom of frame I cropped that one a bit.

Mick have you processed the image at all, ie darks flats and bias's and then cropped out the crappy bits and adjust for sky glow and such?

as for hand guiding - nice work - but couldnt you with all the gear you have start to use another camera to guide through the guide scope and use PHD or something, will allow you to go longer and more of them??

nicely done Roger, David, stacked in DSS and a slight levels adjustment in PS CS2.
As for the hand guiding, l quite enjoy it as l think it keeps some sort of personal input, l have done 20min hand guided shots as trials and they have worked well so longer shots are not an issue really.
Having said that l have all the gear so will give it a try soon.

My hat off to you, anyone that can get an image like that while guiding manually sure knows their stuff, very well done, indeed.

You did well gaining that much data last night Mick and at 20 Deg.

We had the wind here and the sky was light even before the moon rose.
