ISS pass over Sydney/Central Coast tonight

At 9:03pm tonight, go out and look for the ISS - a pretty good mag -2.1 pass, reaching 57deg alt in the South East.

I was going to try and image it tonight, but it's actually in the worst possible location for me - anything to do the south has trees in the way - and this pass goes from SW through to ESE.

On Monday night @ 20:13 there's a good pass too, another mag -2.0, from SW through to ENE, reaching 54deg altitude.

hey Mike, where did you get the info on the Magnitude? That would be handy information. Usually use the Nasa Java thingy but never know brightness of these things....

I was down at Mornington peninsula at a viewing, we even saw it through the cloud! I thought it was an aircraft at first.

I was out last night trying to view the moon through the clouds with my new 10" DOB , got great views , I was also looking through bino's when I saw this bright object moving across the sky, I quickly dragged my son out for a look he said it couldn't be a plane as it hasn't any lights, it dissapeared behind the clouds in the NW. Phew! now I know I am not crazy I did see something.
Kim. I saw it from Melton.

Thanks for the heads up. I went out and caught the pass over Sydney tonight. I could make out some structure in a pair of 9x60 binoculars.

Man conditions were terrible up here tonight, absolutely blowing a gale, thick low clouds (with some gaps luckily), and mossies biting the hell out of me.

But I think I caught some sort of image.. maybe.

Was a very nice sight, so bright.

I had good weather conditions, but I can relate to the mozzies! Ducked outside for 5 mins max and copped 6 bites!

Whilst I hadn't read this thread until this morning, I was sitting in the car at about 7.15 last night, waiting for my wife, when I saw a bright satellite in the south, which disappeared at about 30 deg in the east, and thought to myself that it was bright enough to be the ISS. A look at Starry Night today confirmed that it was indeed ISS, so I can say that I saw it without even trying!
