What is the best camera for video astrophotography?

Hi there,

I've been reading in these forums that some people use video cameras like ToUcams etc in addition to or in place of traditional DLSRs. One of the advatages touted is that you can get a greater number of exposures.

This interests me but I know very little about it. So my question is what equipment do I need to attached to an LX-90 and what are the better video cameras. I have a digital camera already........can I buy an adaptor?

Is video capture better than DSLR capture in terms of quality?

Cheers.

lineout hi!,

before others begin their excellent advice I would suggest talking with Steve Massey at My Astro Shop. The telephone number is in the Sept/Oct edition of AS&T. Steve should be able to advise as he was one of the authors of 'Video Astronomy' published by AS&T. Start there and you shouldn't go too far wrong.
