Ok, 'fess up. Who spent their winnings.

Now while I personally didn't win today (you have to be in it to win it) I do know, through a little birdy, that due to a sudden rush on astronomical oriented purchases this afternoon straight after the running of the MC, that some amateur astronomers did have a win.

So who won and then went out straight away and spent it all on astronomy gear.

Promise we won't tell

I did win a little in our office sweeps...but not enough $$ for gear, I'll be lucky to scrap a lunch out of my winnings...

I always was a fan of the colour purple...

Cheers!

Gah, second place so no winnings to spend. Who else went for Purple Moon and/or Sculptor as the astronomically named horses ?

I didn't place a bet as I couldn't get away from work. I didn't even get to see the race due to a breakdown.

I've never made a bet.

I forgot the race was on, and don't even know who won. Don't really care either

Never been interested in horse racing.

I'm with ballaratdragons here. No interest at all.

As the rest of the company shutdown to watch the race, I walked up to Bintel and
bought an EOS T-ring and a prime focus adapter for my ED80.
So my C8 wouldn't feel left out, I bought an adapter for it as well.

Now if only the rain would stop...

Only just remembered to see the the race, came in from gardening for a cuppa and realised it was a couple of minutes to three.

Didn't have a bet though, Tattslotto once a week is enough.

Cheers

I worked through the race. I and the person I was seeing didn't notice or care about it. Not everyone cares about the nags.

I saw the Melbourne Cup the other week, it was nice and shiney.
Didn't feel the need to see it again.

Not to interested in the racing industry..I read an article which mentioned how many horses get born into, churned out ,of each year in this buisness
and it was staggering not many make it and most who don't ..arn't going to end there days as a kids pony on a 5 acre block somewhere.

On a lighter note the melbourne cup would look good as a chariot race imo

There are a few ex race horses that end up having full lives (literally) once their racing career is over.
The most athletic and sound horses get snapped up pretty quick by the showjumping/eventing fraternity. Our thoroughbreds are sought after world wide in this sport.
But race horses are hot blooded creatures and are not suitable for beginners. My old boy is one of the exceptions, placid and unflappable.
So that leaves the other 95% to whatever fate has in store for them.
Rather sad isn't it.
