barlow advice

has anyone had any experience with one of these Barlow's? i know not to expect power-mate quality as you get what you pay for but.....any reviews or opinions out there?

hmmm, it says GSO on it. It might be here in Aus under a different name eg shop brand name. I don't have one, unfortunately, so you'll have to keep waiting for someone who has.

I own Teleview 3x & GSO 2x 2 inch barlows. I cannot detect any differences between them. Viewing the moon requires baffling with the smaller barlows. This can be done with a steel washer painted flat black that fits neatly in just before you put in the eyepiece. The 2 inch GSO is a marvel for the price, highly recomended.

For a different perspective I find my 2" GSO Barlow useless (it's not the ED type and not the one in your link). I don't know if it is just me, or Barlows in general as I haven't tried any others, but even with good seeing I have never felt that I can see any more detail with the Barlow than without it (using the same eyepiece). Sure the target is bigger, but it is also more blurred.

I'm considering the cheaper Televue one (not the powermate), but I won't be buying any until I've tried some out....
