Powerful stuff, Paul! Thanks. I like seeing it with the surface also showing. I've seen other representations that just show the limb with the surface dark.
Eric, sometimes the seeing is a little nicer than at other times. When it is a little nicer I like to take the surface detail too. In better seeing the spicules would be obvious. When the seeing is worse, it is better not to include disk detail.
Al I figure the height of that prom is about 24,000 to 36,000 km high and about 48,000 wide. A drop in the ocean really on a disk that is 1.39million across.
Houghy, I know what the problem is, I have to use a flat field to get rid of it now. Except when imaging on the limb. It does not show up as much. I found that it is hardly noticable with the 2x barlow, but becomes really evident as I go up in image scale. This was taken with the 5x powermate, but the banding did not show up much. I can still see them, but only just.
