Tarantula in the wind

We were out imaging last night in very windy conditions.

We were desperate as this was the first clear dark night that we had been able to get out imaging for some time.

NGC 2070 Tarantula Nebula

Pentax ist DL Unguided

A very nice image Barb & Dave. Considering the conditions lately all over SE Australia you have done a fine job.

Cheers

WOW! You got that in last nights howling wind!!! Excellent!

Nice round stars and good tracking for those conditions. You have captured very nice detail in the Tarantula, and all the blobs of neb around it.

The images on your website are all great
Thanks for the SVAA link in there too

It was pretty wild Ken. Our house protected us from the North wind but once it changed we were buffeted around We were quite happy with what we got considering the conditions.

And seeing the Meteor was an added bonus

Yep our tracking has improved now we have the EQ6 and we can polar align more accurately Glad you noticed

Your shots look great - I tried the Tarantula last night too - it was fun. Stacking is another technique I have to learn - cause your shots are great!

We're beginners as well Matt a little further advanced than you. We originally posted single image shots and it was a good way to learn how to use PS. We now use Deep Sky Stacker which is a freeware and it's improved our images by being able to stack different exposures. Give it a try

great shot! your images are getting better and better . stars are round circles indicates that your tracking is spot on even under windy conditions.

Barb and David,
The high resolution version on your site is great. A testimony to how far you've come. I'm pleased to see the new mount is working out well for you. Can only get better from here. Well done to you both.

Thanks for your positive feedback Eric and Jase.

Yes we're really impressed with the performance of our EQ6. Everything is rock solid

Hopefully our DSI Pro should arrive in a few days. We already have PHD, GPUSB adaptor and a guidescope so we can't wait to start autoguiding

Wow excellent work Barb and David, improving with every image you take.
Lovely to see everything's coming together and your results (especially in those conditions) speak for themselves.

Well done !
