amateur astronomy

I have been looking at some of the photos from different people who have taken some awesome photos of space and what lyes beyond....I am a full on amateur astronomer and I took my first photo of the moon through my DSI hooked up to my scope and my computer a few months ago.....
I was so proud of the photo that I took, but looking at all the other photos that people take and I see that my photo is not too good at all.....
I really hope that one day, my photos will turn out as pro as the other photos......Just need to work out how to do it......
Keep up the great work to all....love all the photos.....

Don't be put off my the quality of your Moon pic.

Imagine how NASA and the Professional observatories feel when Amatuers are getting better pics than they did only a few years ago and in some cases even now!!!

As bad as you think yours is, it is probably on par or better than the pros were getting not very long ago

Just keep at it.
I get frustrated with imaging too, but I keep going.

Some amateurs (Bird for example) are getting better, clearer Lunar images than the Lunar orbiters are getting!!! That must bug NASA

Hi Starlight, as Ken says just keep going. It's the thrill of the chase that keeps a lot of us coming back for more.

I too have deleted more images than I have kept.

Cheers

Hi starlight!
Where abouts on the Central Coast are you? I'm at Wyoming!
You should try and come to our new moon meet at Kulnura.

Astrophotography is an art.. it's not easy to do well. If it was, it wouldn't be special. It takes a lot of practise and good knowledge of your equipment to make the most of it. Keep trying, and post your results! We can probably help you to get better images that you'll be even happier with.

Keep asking questions!
