Moon (full disk) on 5th August 2007

Here is my first attempt at the Moon since getting the Nikon D80. Imaged on 5th August 2007 to practice for the eclipse.

81 exposures with D80 through C8 with f/6.3 focal reducer stacked with Registax.

This is the first image of the Moon I've taken since about 1988 when I was 16.

And here is the same image after playing with hue and saturation and scaled down by a factor of 2.

I wonder if the different colour represent differences in surface composition.

Yes, it does. Don't ask me what minerals, though But it's fairly common for lunar imagers to do that. They look great.
