M31 & M83 - Duckadang 2007

Two more hot off the press.....yesterday

M31 and M83. Same equipment as before, ED80, 0.8X FR and Canon300D.

M31 - 6/300sec & 1/600sec@ISO800, dark subtracted, aligned and stacked in IP. Post processing and combining of 300 & 600 sec images done in PS.

M83 - 6/600sec@ISO400, dark subtracted, aligned and stacked in IP. Post processing in PS

Yeah, M83 has been the pick of the bunch for me atm. I haven't finished my M8 or other nebula shots yet as I'm having trouble getting the colour to come out in the nebula.

Very nice images Paul, you've done a great job with these two galaxies. Gee, weren’t you a busy bee at astrofest! Remind me to kick your tripod next time!

Now that is really cruel Dennis, great shots Paul. Nice to see a downunder flavour of that famous galaxy. To me here it is a mere smudge that rises oh so briefly above the weeds to the north for a very short time.

Now that is a killer M31, with a 300D and ED80???, wow, goes to show what can be done with patience, smick set up and skill.

spot on , love the m31 image , well done.
i think i must be missing something in my processing as i had a hell of alot of frames the other night of m31 but couldn't seem to get any detail out and it was blue

Looks excellent - I wish mine where anywhere near that good. I tried for M31 last night - from where my scope is set-up it seems too low in the sky (given where trees and houses are). Do you go to a field that is really flat - or you just have really unobstructed views to the North?
