Nexstar 4GT

I am a newbi, so if this has been discussed many times before, I apologise. I did a search, but could not find a related question, so here is mine.
Just purchased the scope, a Nexstar 4GT, and am having problems with aligning it. According to the manual, there are the following options
Auto-Align
Two-Star Alignment
Quick Align,
but when going through the handcontrol menus for alignment, all I get are the following options.
Skyalign.
Solar System Align
One Star Align
Two Star Align
Auto Two Star

Am I missing a basic step here?
Each time I powerup the scope, it reverts to the Nexstar 4GT menu, which appears to indicate that the scope has not been setup previously, although it does recall the last settings re time and location.
Anyone know what gives?

Hello Ally (or do you prefer Pally?)

It appears that you got an updated hand controller. I'm not sure if this was deliberate or an accident, but the new model is MUCH easier to align.

I have the refractor version, and all you have to do is pick skyalign, point it at any three stars and you are away. It works best if you pick three stars that are far apart though.

It reminds me of about six months ago when I bought an 80GB topfield. When I opened the box, I had the 250GB model!!

Thumbs up Help is at hand!

As ferret says, your hand controller is more up to date than your manual. See attached zip archive for a User Guide covering the latest version of the NexStar handpiece software.

Thanks Mikey & Ferret.
Your information has made me feel a little more confident that I hadn't been over gazing at the moon, and gone luney.
Now all I need is a clear night, then I can stop gazing at those luminous stars on the ceiling, and take the scope outdoors to see the real thing.

Hi Ally Pally, to IIS!

I hope you enjoy it here and come back and visit often. I look forward to hearing your first light reports once you get the NexStar obeying your commands
