Observatory lininig progresses

So far I have in the last few weeks....

1. Put in extra metal struts in the walls to hold the lining. 5 lengths of 6m 40mm galv-tube, cut to size
2. Put in insullation - stuff that has sizilation on one side and 40mm pink bat on the other side
3. Put on the HardiFlex lininig

I've got some touching up to do on the HardiFlex, some gap filler required and a couple of extrea pieces to patch up holes that were mis-calculations.

Then it's on to the fun part, the painting!

Also having a new curtain made for between open & closed halves, a heavier full block-out one that will provide better insullation than the current rather thin one.

The HardiFlex job is far from perfect but it will do. There were some very awkward angles and corners etc. So it doesn't meet up perfectly in all the joins. I won't notice once it's gap-filled and painted though I think.

Looking forward to having it done, the observatory is a mess, the PC isn't running nice and needs attention (but not practical in it's current physical state, and lots more.

Progress. Taken about 4 weeks so far.

It's always a debate what the money gets spent on - observatory stuff or scope stuff (assuming I can actually spend the money on anything astronomy related!).

The upgrades to the observatory will set back my equipment upgrades, but I'm looking forward to the comfortable observing out there in the enclosed half, and having it more like a normal room - being able to have pictures on the walls and stuff on the desks without fearing bugs, dust, etc are going to make it a mess within a week. I'll probably use it more for general computer stuff too, move some stuff out of the office inside the house.

How jealous can I be before it becomes an obsession? Good luck to you to have the horizons that make a project like that feasible. I don't think I would survive SWMBO if I took a chainsaw to the trees. Besides they are great in the August winds as they break the wind. Looks like I am doomed to travel to the wide horizons

Love the design and practicallity of it all!

The horizons at my place aren't great, but there's a lot to be said for convenience, whatever the horizons
