Fun with short tube Lagoon Neb

I have gone back to the 80mm to get some practice. Married the 80 mm to the 70mm with a illuminated reticle and tried real hard to stop the trails .
This shot was 150 secs thru 300d canon on the 80 x 400 mm at prime iso 1600. Conditions were very cloudy but opened up for a hour session.. and wow did I take some shots in only one hour... it was a rush because the sky was half clouded over.

That Triffid, Lagoon combo at the end there is one of your best yet I think. You'll probably find too that a lot of that blue halo around your brighter stars is from using an achromatic lens.

Tracking is much better. What is the mount that you've got everything set up on Alex?

I am using the LXD 55 mount reconditioned and tuned by my life long friend Roger of Kyogle I have had the celestron mount for the 150 ar sorted also but havent had a chance to use it. But tracking and alignment is starting to improve.. mainly practice on correction without jumping or overrunning..plus I seem to find the mount tracks well in certain poss. not in others so again dont ever blame the mount it is really me and knowing its strenghts and weaknesses. I still havent done any dark subs. been tied up with other stuff
