Patterns in the Ice

Here's what the windows of my car looked like this morning before defrosting. Taken from inside (better light). These images are as captured - just resized and saved for the web. There's some great natural patterns there... might come in handy for the odd arty mask.

Great shots there Al

Reminds me of the old Landbruiser, Cooma Rescue 70 on some late night callout in the middle of winter.

Cheers

Mate, you got that right.

Could have been hanging off a rope, as you well know.

Cheers

Of course! You never hang off a rope in anger when the weather is fine and cozy! There's a corollary of Murphy's Law there somewhere - I know it.

Thanks. I thought so.

Yeah, sometimes it's worth taking that extra little bit of time. Earlier this winter I saw for the first time ever the finest ice crystal tree formation on the inside of my windscreen as I was driving to work. I was impressed that there was enough humidity inside the car to form it and that it was cold enough. I should've stopped straight away and photographed it - I did think to do it... but... (not thinking properly) I decided to photograph it when I got to work... less than 2 minutes later.

It didn't make it...

Hi Al,

Fantastic pics. I can't believe you live where it gets that cold. We got down to 8 degrees a couple of times this winter and I thought i was going to die then. No way I would survive where you live.
