Mobile Phones

Just generating a bit of a discussion thread..

What type of mobile phone do you own? Why do you/don't you like it?

I've got a 3G phone, as I work for Hutchison/Ericsson.. problem is, I don't get 3G coverage at home, so it just acts like a normal 2G phone roaming with Telstra.

The 3G services are pretty cool when I use them at work, a bit gimmickly, but there's plenty of people out there who love that type of thing. Big Brother is going off on 3 - it's causing the network to choke up, way beyond their expectations.. people streaming BB video to their 3 mobile.

Anyway.. your turn.

A nokia 1100 because my boss is cheap !
Actually if I was spending my own money I would probably buy the same thing as its cheap, works great, you can make/receive calls on it and even do sms! Who needs colour screens and polyphonic ringtones? Its just a phone after all

For data use Im told a Maxon cdma modem is on the way so i can do remote connections on the road. Anyone else here use a cdma modem ?

My daughter wants it cause her phone is broken. kids, they never look after stuff. but then her "dream phone" for quite some time was a meare nokia 1100 like starklers. I tried to convincer to dream about better phones but what can i say, peer group pressure strikes again... her friends have the 1100.
Teens huh!
go figure.

my phones "joy stick" is currently not working as well as it could so I my get a new one soon (or maybe get it fixed)

Nokia 6230. Good little phone, keys are a bit dinky and the display's crap without the backlighting on. The inbuilt MP3 player and FM radio are a real bonus. I went with this phone for the Bluetooth I/F but after buying a bluetooth headset decided that the standard corded headset was better. My experience with Nokias has been good, my last one went through a complete wash cycle, detergent, rinse, even fabric softener and spin and is still going 2 years later after a weeks drying time on the A/C outlet.

LG TD6000 here.

I have no complaints at all with it. It's not a small phone, but very comfortable to use. I've always liked Nokia phones but I wasn't real impressed with the CDMA models they had last year.

I've got a Samsung SCH-N181, CDMA mobile and it's a good compact and reliable phone. I've had it for over 2 years and it's been faultless. It has excellent coverage and the battery still lasts well over a week on standby 24 hours a day. It doesn't have a camera in it but I don't have any need for one. I won't be upgrading anytime soon.

Nokia 3105 on CDMA.

It is a brilliant little phone. We don't have Broadband for the pooter out here but we now have a CDMA phone tower!

I also have a Nokia 3315 on normal Digital and I still have my Philips Savvy but I don't use it any more. It has become my museum piece!!!

Nokia 2280 CDMA

Great phone.....And the battery life is no problem at all lasts 5 days on standby 24 hours a day. How much battery life do you need? I reckon that's plenty.

I'd want as much as possible coz when they get older the battery life only gets shorter and I'm out in the country a bit and that can chew the battery when the signal is poor. Mine's down from 10+ days to about 8 days. That's just my opinion though.

I get about the same as John. 5 - 7 days 24hrs a day. I'm happy with that!

I can remember my old Analogue phone (the ones with no screen at all). I had to recharge every day. The battery would last for 8 hours and that was normal back then. So to me, 5 - 7 days is fantastic.
