Haven't seen any beginner's scope for sale, and don't know if anyone s interested, but I'll try my luck here.


GS 680 Dob 200mm x 1200mm, comes with 4 x 1.25" eyepieces (6.5mm, 9mm, 15mm and 25mm) and 10 x 32 binos

plus GS 1.25" Barlow

No modification, bought from www.Andrewscom.com.au in mid Jan. Used for about 20 times, so about 95% new, gave me many nights of impressive view. Great scope for a newbie.

Bought the whole set for $493(including freight), would like to ask for at least $400. I'm from Adelaide, so local pickup will be preferred. Please contact me by email if anyone is interested.

PS: the reason for selling is I'll return to HK permanently to work. And a Dob is not necessarily the best scope to have in HK. (I thought about keeping it, but just too difficult to post it back to hk, too difficult to find a space in my little flat, and way too difficult to carry it from 7th floor to ground floor, then carry it to a dark site.)

Not a lot of parts to wear out on a dob! Even used 50 times I would consider it 'hardly used'.

Hope you have luck selling it. Pity you can't take it with you. I wish you luck in Hong Kong and I hope you get to find some dark sky over there somewhere.

Mike -- sorry, have been visiting your forum for 1/2 year, but haven't said hi b4. You've done a great job! I've learned a lot from your website, and will continue to visit this site when I'm in hk.

Michael (Moonman) -- yeah, great price. You'll love it when you get the scope, but I think certain modifications will make it even better!(check out the Dob Modification section!)

Ken -- Thx. And yes, the major problem in hk is to find a dark site(if there is one at all!) I went back in March this year and when I looked up the sky I could only barely see the three stars on Orion's belt!
