I observed the Comet last night, first at 18:15 with 3 day old moon and twilight and was seen as a large oval shape, brighter at the narrowest part, maybe some hint of tail?
Observed at again 19:37 guestamated at 7.5-8.0 mag it was fairly low down,
no further detail as of first observation
Scope 16" 13mm nagler

Tonight, comet C/2006 VZ13 (LINEAR) is quite close to the globular cluster M3.

It's about 2 magnitudes brighter than predicted (see AS&T Jul/Aug, page 61), which is a bonus for observers.

Looks like a fairly difficult target, low and in the twilight.

Its moving further south so it should be comfortably seen, it can be a little difficult cos of the moon though!
