Amazing! Andromeda in Infrared!

Incredible image of Andromeda in IR on APOD today.

The red in the image is showing the gas and dust lanes, being heated by the young hot stars in the arms of the galaxy. The older, red stars (red giants) show up in blue in this image.

Amazing!

What an amazing image, very stunning. I can'y help but think what an amazing sight it will be in the sky as it approachs us in a billion or so years, it's a pity we'll never see it.

Cheers

A TRILLION stars, each spaced from the next by astronomical distances. If you could even start to imagine the scale of that thing you're having yourself on.

Incredible.
