Feathertouch Focuser Installed

It's still raining in New Zealand, I suppose it is mid-winter.

My Feathertouch focuser arrived today so I took advantage of the poor conditions and installed it, knowing that if I stuck any issues I still couldn't be frustrated if it cleared.

Pretty easy install really. Holes in slightly different places to the JMI RCF. Astrocrumb Filterslide didn't cause any really difficulty, just a minor problem with one of the set screws, being very close to the Filterslide rail.

Indeed,

Although the JMI focuser has been a faithful servant. The scope is 6 years old next week, and the JMI has been there all along.

But hey, don't let these things stand in the way of progress.

The weekend is looking good for observing...maybe I should come down to Hamilton?

It's difficult to explain just how good the feathertouch is.

A significant number of people that use my 20" for the first time ask about the focuser! That never happened with the (excellent) JMI. It's THAT good...

Used my Feathertouch last night along with my Argo Navis, for the first serious observing session.

I finished the observing session, with very satisfied with both new additions to the telescope. Both the Feathertouch and the Argo Navis exceeded my expectations.

The comment I made to some fellow observers regarding the Feathertouch was, that I had actually never focused so accurately or so consistently before.

Very Nice.

And even in the balmy temps that prevailed. The two that left after you had to chisel the ice and frost from their windscreen. Brrrrr.

Nope, not alone. I am their biggest fan, why else do you think I have been making them available for the folk downunder?
