EQ6 SynScan connection to PC

I don’t seem to be having any luck in getting my SynScan EQ6 to talk to any PC, specifically ASCOM applications. Although, i have been successful in connecting to the firmware upgrader and have updated my firmware to v3.12.

Here are the steps i have taken, including what equipment i have used, maybe someone has already gone through this and can show me the light.

Equipment:
SW EQ6 Pro SynScan v3.12 connecting to PC via BinTel USB-to-Serial converter.

Steps i have taken:
1. Make sure everything is connected
2. Turn PC on, wait till boot/load is complete
3. Turn mount on, go through initial hand controller setup.
4. Check what serial port is supplied to the USB converter via Device Manager
5. Open StarryNight, configure Telescope settings, select Celestron Telescopes -> NexStar 5i -> COM port set to result of step 4
6. Press Connect, get message "There doesn’t appear to be a Celestron telescope connected".

I have also tried changing the serial port bit speed to 115k from 9600, but get the same result.

Any help would be much appreciated

Have you tried to connect just via ASCOM? Try opening POTH that comes with ascom and fiddle with the settings to see if you can get info back from the scope.
