I normally would not clutter a forum with a post about purchases but today's score was unique and I thought I should pass on the experience. I needed some high current connectors to join two projects and was sick of paying big bucks at the local shop so I thought I would drop out to a large wreckers yard here and scrounge the bits I needed. I told the guys at the counter that I wanted half a bag full of electrical connectors etc for a telescope project and then wandered up back and started hunting. What I found amazed me! High grade stereo wiring worth a fortune was in the first car. I took out what must have cost the owner hundred of bucks, thick flexable copper power cable you could use for jumper leads if you wanted, complete with bling bling fuse holders. Equally high-grade amplifier cables with gold RCA plugs. I found the same again in another car later and robbed it all out too. I grabbed tons of cable, connector blocks in various sizes and pinouts as well as assorted fuses, switches, dozens and dozens of screws and bolts and a host of other stuff. I even found $3 in goldies just laying in plain view. The pic shows only some of what I scrounged. Back to the counter and the guy looks in the now bursting shopping bag. "Whats this for?" "Telescope hobby!" I say again. $20 he said. WOW! I guess because it wasn't the usual sale he had no idea what it was worth The fact that I had strategically hidden all the good stuff down the bottom may have helped a bit too.
