Melbourne Planetarium

We went to the planetarium today and saw a great presentation about black holes. They used great visuals to effectively explain complicated concepts in simple terms. Then we enjoyed the night sky presentation after the main event. I was surprised to find that Caitlin(8 yo) really enjoyed the show. I was also surprised to see Max(4 yo) remain quiet for the whole show. The crowds beat us to the earlier shows that were more suitable for kids. The seats are terrible though - we were at the front and I recommend getting in line early to get the better positioned seats.

At home tonight I used a laser pointer to show the kids what they saw in the sky tonight presentation. They found a few extras too; Caitlin found the 'big grin' and Max found the 'big toilet' in the sky. Max's favourite display at Scienceworks was the transparent flushing toilet. We could easily spend the whole day at Scienceworks - plenty to see and do.

Sounds like a great night, Tony. The laser pointers are excellent aids in pointing out things in the sky, especially to kids.
