Something different - Jupiter in UV

It was clear for a while last night here in Melbourne but the seeing was quite poor (4/10) so decided to image Jove with a Wratten 47 filter in the UV area to see if I could at least capture any type of detail.

It's interesting, as this filter seems to isolate well the light blue hues on the planet reasonably well.

Anyhow, better then nothing I guess!

400 frames stacked in Registax and processed in Astra Image 3.0 using ME Deconvolution

Wow - quite a spooky and surreal Jupiter. I'm glad my eyes are optmised for the visible spectrum! Thanks for an interesting perspective John.

Cheers

John, that really gives a different look! I have seen Joop thru yellow and blue filters but never purple!!! Adds a bit of spice to normal imaging.
