Obscuratus Thingamajigus

Interstellar Whatchamacallit, Obscuratus Thingamajigus or more commonly; The Dark Doodad Nebula, officially catalogued as Sandqvist 149, is a dark molecular cloud in the southern constellation Musca.
Discovered in 1977 by Swedish astronomer Aage Sandqvist, it was later nicknamed the 'Dark Doodad' by American amateur astronomer Dennis di Cicco in 1986 after observing it from Alice Springs, Australia.

I initially took subs using my ZWO 2600MM but sold it and purchased a ZWO 6200MM. I then took more subs using the ZWO 6200MM.
First photo are subs from the ZWO 6200MM (12.0 h) and the second photo combining all subs from both the cameras (20.25 h). Processed in PI.

I use to follow Dennis on various channels when I first started visual astronomy nearly 10 years ago. Both Dennis and Al Nagler are modern day pioneers in their field.

Al cost me a fortune as well , my last purchase was the limited edition Apollo 11 eye piece ( only 5 were allocated to Australia )
It’s definitely not a show piece , it’s a beautiful eye piece with performance to match. Sadly Paul Dellechiaie from TV who designed it passed away in 2022.

Limited edition Apollo 11 eye piece..Wow very nice. I really like using my SW 250PDS for visual. Might not be the best by any means but with the Paracorr and TV plossls I get a nice view.
Swore Id never stick a camera on it; relented last year and that paracorr came in handy. Will not stick an EAF on it as its for visual.

Appreciate those 'Ds' as I do try to Deliver Decidedly Dramatic Depictions of Deep-sky Doodads with a Dash of Daring and a Dollop of Detail.

You've totally nailed the colour in the second version....a really engaging image.

What particularly caught my eye was the subtle colour variation
of the globular cluster and its partial external reddening by the IFN.
