Anker Battery Recall

Since Li-Ion battery packs are popular products here, and someone may own one of these, be aware that Anker has recalled one of its battery packs (PowerCore 10000 power bank):

However, please keep in mind that Li-Ion battery packs from reputable brands (it's debatable whether Anker would make that list) are quite safe if using the built-in battery management and charging system and if used and stored in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. There's still a lot of mis-information around the fire risks of Li-Ion batteries, especially with electric vehicles.

I had an Anker Soundcore 2 bluetooth speaker that had a safety recall for the Li ion batteries 6 months ago. I use the speaker for hours every day streaming music / radio from my iPad or iPhone. After I contacted them, it took them about 3 months to send the replacement. I had been using the recall without problems for a couple of years. They didn't ask for it to be returned. I have kept it and use it sometimes but only charge it from a powerpoint on my concrete back deck.
