2024 G3 on January 29 - going deeper

Another picture from last night, Jan 29th when the comet was in darker skies, just after the end of astronomical twilight

Taken between 9:50 - 10:10 pm. 24 x 30s exposures.

Sorry to hear about your weather although pretty typical for NE NSW and SE Qld this time of year. When we get a winter comet, I'll have the cloud and you'll have the clear skies.

Thanks. Captured with my trusty Losmandy Starlapse purchased here on classifieds from Paul Haese about 11 years ago. Pity they killed the Starlapse. One of these days, the controller or something will go and I'll be stuffed.

drive a Starlapse.....and also give you a guiding port in RA

That's another beautiful image Joe!
We've had nothing but cloud and storms in Lithgow.
The starlapse has done an amazing job and I've prepared a spot in my yard to get my Astro-Trac I've still never used out and try for Orion, if this cloud and near winter conditions ever disappear.
I think it's the first summer in my 24 years here where the aircon hasn't been turned on once (it's free with solar through the day). I've used the fan maybe 3 times and blankets/ dooners most nights, a very strange summer.


I'm not familiar with the starlapse system is that a standard driven Losmandy mount it's on?
The Astro-Trac has a 15KG limit but requires two heads on the tripod which the one on the Astro trac itself will be inclusive in the total weight. I am however keen to play when weather and health permit. Sadly it won't be a Comet and who wants photos of a flying Tesla?

Midway between Fomalhaut and µ Gruis tonight. Head touches the horizon at 10:45pm
