Old M42 with Ha- Repro

Hi everyone,
I took 26x90sec Ha using the mono camera last night. Conditions were rather stable.
I integrated this into an old capture (1hr) from 2017 that I took with the Canon 60D and at that time it was captured without using a coma corrector.
Therefore the merge of these two rather different images was hard to marry to say the least, in particular the stars with their trademark elongation at the edges.
None the less, it was again a chance to see what the Hyrdogen Alpha image could do and with only 45 minutes it really packed a punch.
This nebula has huge dynamic range and plenty of wispy neb structure and shadows revealed.

Bye to Orion for me once more.
Cheers and HNY for 2025.

Anthony

Gee Anthony, you seem to be having fun with your new camera. That's a fine result and like me last night, you added new data to older data with different cameras to enhance ( and hopefully improve ) the final image. Looks to me like you've achieved that and that 250mm Newt gets plenty of detail up close compared to my 100mm refractor!

Thanks Mick/
It has been fun to check out new capabilities and functions with the ASI2600MM.
The results are very good and this time of the year to image under very warm temperatures make it a breeze with the cooled camera.
This compilation was a quick throw together of information to see the result but I’d prefer having RGB from the same camera to avoid overlaying images with different pixel sizes : in time-
For now it’s definitely an exciting and fun new challenge in imaging.
Anthony

Repro

Been hit by a summer heat wave here in Melbourne/ weather a bit uncomfortable for Astro photography so I decided to reprocess the merge with the old data.
Was able to utilise the mono Ha data with more control in the red Chanel and used as a luminosity overlay to help this hamstrung data. I believe this has enhanced it somewhat.

Your last process is a pearler Anthony! Nice dynamic range with plenty of dust showing between the two nebulas. You're onto a winner with that mono 2600 and your modded Canon 60d combination. Colours look great too.
