Coour Images LRGB

I have been collecting at least 1.5hrs each channel however when I combine in SIRL the resulting colour image looks very washed out not very dynamic - I am applying flats, biases and darks- could these be causing an issue or do I need more data to improve colour results

I know nothing about SIRL. However, the most common problem of washed out colour in LRGB combination is that the luminance image is too bright. In Pixinsight it is important to keep brightest values at or below .8 (on scale of 0 to 1). Also, the colour image should not be bright.

Peter

Edit: By "bright" I mean in stretching. Don't over stretch...keep stretched values below what you want to see in the brightness of your final image. You can brighten after the LRGB combination. Adam Block has numerous videos exoplaining exactly why this is important. I don't know what other programs may do in this regard..pehaps they decrease the stretch to make the combination work, but that is only a guess.

Trev,
Probably worth while joining the Siril forum as your a bonafide Siril user and post your issue there
Not sure if there’s a facility to upload your data , that would be an advantage

https://discuss.pixls.us/c/software/siril/34

In regard to using overexposed luminance data , I’ve stacked and processed luminance data that’s almost a white out due to B8 City skies and I can still produce a colour image in LRGB using my post processing software Startools. As long as your individual data sets stacked correctly ( correct settings, aligned and calibrated ) and composited correctly together into a LRGB channel compositing tool or program together with being cleaned up using a gradient reduction tool in post processing then you should be able to produce a colour image.

Calibration should not affect LRGB colour. It should enhance your images.

Cheers
Martin
