Largest filament ever - over 3 million Km long!!!

While testing the MLAstro SHG (125/125 configuration) I couldn't help but be impressed with the size of the filament currently visible.

I've been observing the Sun for over 25 years - With no loss of eyesight and this must be the longest filament I've seen.
The visible surface of the Sun is about 2.2 million Km in width (half the solar circumference), based on that, I think the filament is about 3 million Km in length.!!
Certainly a time of solar maxima....
I hope you also get the chance to image this enormous filament.
(I think the "gaps" you see are due to the Doppler shift where the filament is in strong upward/ downward motion)

Raining here, hence I didn't get to image the Sun today, that said, I suspect if its the same filament that has been around for the last few days it's not continuous. (My Ha image from the 5th Jan attached)

Impressive none the less!
