setting rings on EQ mount won't stay put

Hi,
Is there a trick to getting the setting rings on an NEQ6 mount to stay locked on to the RA and Dec axis? I've set mine many times, using the two little grub screws to tighten them in place once home position is set. The problem I'm having is that sooner or later they stop moving with the mount axis, and just stay at the same position at the base of each axis, regardless of where the scope is pointing.
There seems to be a little bit of play between mount axis and base, and I've tried having it closer to one or the other without any real success in having them stay put.
Stephen

After set up last night I got some small pliers and tightened the grub screws more than I normally do. I didn't want to strip the threads, but it seemed ok. I'll see how this goes.

Hi Stephen

If they come loose again, consider a drop of Loctite om threads.

Be careful with circles, especially RA.
If you lock it, and switch OFF the tracking, the calibration (setting) will be lost. Also if you move it with motors (if mount is GoTo)

The calibration is valid ONLY as long as tracking motor is ON, and for manual move of the telescope.
