editing recorded conversations

Good morning to you all.

I was wondering does anyone know of a free or otherwise software that can edit recorded conversations.

I have records of people speaking, however there are many gaps of silence and different irreverent sections and I would like to edit that stuff out to make the recording flow better and shorter.

G'day Leon, I use Audacity for this sort of task. It's free and I find it easy to use.

Another Audacity fan here, I did demo discs for a musician friend 20 years ago and it was the easiest software to use,
