We Need A New Mount - EQ5 or EQM35

Hi IIS Fam,

We are on the hunt for a new mount .

But, not new, preferably used!

Our little EQ3-2 (Max Capacity 5kg) is meeting its limit for imaging above the weight of our 50ED & 62ED OTA's. We are looking to try and get our mount capacity up to around 10kg.

So if anybody has an old mount out there, sitting in a box or on a shelf neglected , we would be happy to hear from you.

Even happy to take a project on, such as hyper-tuning and cleaning/re-greasing, for an EQ5 (or another variant - i.e. Orion Skyview Pro, CG5) at the right price .

Probably unlikely to get an EQM-35 in our price range, but if you are looking to get rid of one let us know what you are thinking in the way of price.

Thanks for looking.

Clear Skies to All

Helen & James

Hi,

Forgot to mention we are also happy to just take a mount head with CW shaft, don't necessarily need the tripod and counter weights. Should also make it easier and cheaper to post if not local to SA.

Thanks again for looking.

Re: Eq4

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for your comment on the wanted ad.

How much are you looking for the eq4?

Whilst we think the payload will increase (to around 10kg) with that mount, we haven't heard anything good online in relation to imaging capacity or modifications.

Are we better off waiting for an EQ5 or similar variant?

What are your thoughts?

Regards

James & Helen

Bump - Still Looking

Bump - Still looking!

Someone must have an old EQ5, or similar just sitting at the back of the shed on the floor , just waiting for us to fix her up.

Thanks

Helen & James
